‘buy a fish eye lens’
That might be a bit excessive, as they are expensive and only really useful as an occasional gimmick.
Renting lenses from places like Vistek is a good alternative to buying the sort that are only useful once in a while.
Au contraire, I have a friend who swears by that lens, and his photos are truly awesome.
Also I never liked the idea of renting things; I get too attached!
But true: maybe I should invest in a decent macro lens first.
Great list! If anyone can manage to accomplish this many amazing things in the next few years, it’s you!
I have lots of blank canvases and paint in my basement. Maybe while you’re back, we can have an art date?
I officially have one more thing to look forward to!
Miss you like mad, Nadine. You would love the poetry shows I’ve discovered here. I wish I had my partner in crime to perform with me.
I don’t know what sort of camera system you use, but it costs $50 to rent the Canon EF14/2.8 L II USM lens from Vistek for the weekend.
Buying it costs $2,789.99.
Yikes! What an expensive habit I’ve developed. Though I guess that’s less than smokers spend on cigarettes. (That’s generally how I rationalize all my spending, including this gorgeous purple silk dress I bought 2 days ago…!)
That said, for $2,789.99 you could probably get a couple of excellent and more versatile lenses, like the 24-70 f/2.8 or the 70-200 f/4.
You make me want to go shopping.
But Jess, aren’t you also a smoker? So your “that’s less than smokers spend on cigarettes” argument may need some re-thinking…Also, when I was a smoker, it would take me around 3 years to spend $2789.99 on cigarettes. Better start saving!
It’s an ambitious list, but I can’t help but notice that there are some things on there that you’ve ALREADY done, no? :)
Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa, Mary! Way to start rumours. I am most certainly NOT a smoker. If you’re referring to that dashing photo I posted on Facebook, that was an Herbal cigarette from a pack that was purchased specifically for the photo shoot.
Tobacco is gross, and I have never spent money on it. Oh, except in Spain when I was 16. But I was in Spain, for heaven’s sake, and desperately trying to be cool.
Okay, I’m done.
Also, yes, true, I have done a few of these things. Such as horseriding and strawberry picking. But I listed them because I haven’t done them recently and I thought they were worth doing again.
Surprisingly, I haven’t actually yet had sex in a tree (surprising because, as everyone knows, I am mildly obsessed with trees).
Sex in a tree? That doesn’t sound fun to me. But maybe because I’m 34 and not 24 (things get less limber and it sounds like a lot of work..and scratchy).
Also, haven’t you done all three: written, directed and acted in a play (or various plays)?
Better set a reminder for your parents’ 35th anniversary though…you pretty much get one shot at that one!
I don’t imagine the ‘episode’ will last very long, but hey, it’ll make a good story.
Again, I haven’t done any of those things recently. And I don’t think I’ve ever written a script that I liked. Weirdly enough, I’ve never gotten the hang of playwrighting.
Okay, question: Is A.L.bion a person? Because “take A.L.bion dancing” sounds fascinating! I want to take a class in Albion dancing!!
Yes, A.L.bion is a person. Any further questions? :)
Hee hee. Jess. I love the list. Any help you need in completing it, and I’m there…except for maybe the tree…but only because I’m married…and clumsy.
Aw Danielle, I was counting on you for that one! Guess I’ll have to go with my second choice…
As for the rest of the list, maybe you can join me and Nadine for some crazy art project. Or go traveling. Or start a book club. So many things!
