I caught two more acts at Bluesfest this evening, and I have photos to prove it. Well, that doesn’t really prove anything: I could have just lifted them from a friend. But, uh, I have witnesses – at least three of them, and all three mostly reliable.
So I biked over to Lebreton Flats to check out local songstress-guitarist Lindsay Ferguson at the Subway Stage. Gotta love how I’m actually helping to support commercial sponsors by naming the stages. I should so be getting payment for this. Right: onwards. I had heard Lindsay play solo before at one Bywords launch in Chapters; but this was my first time seeing her with a band: a nice mix of rock’n'roll and country, with a dash of sweetness. She mentioned at some point that her outfit was donated by Le Chateau, just as she was removing her sponsored shoes for better comfort. I found that amusing.
Then I biked back downtown to the Byward Market to catch The Proclaimers. You know, those “I would walk 500 miles” guys. Great duo, but not much audience interaction: they were there to play the songs, and just that, it seemed. I was not familiar with the tunes, except for the two especially famous ones, but some groups were singing along the whole time. It was pretty darn cute.
